Rhode Island Guest House Renovation

A 1970s waterfront house recalled a ski-chalet more than a coastal Rhode Island cottage. The neighboring home owners, who purchased it to use as a guest house, sought improvements that would keep the existing footprint and volume while creating a house that would relate better to the main house. Exterior improvements included the addition of porches, natural shingles, painted wood trim, and a stone veneer over the existing brick chimney. Inside, new finishes and fixtures updated, brightened and enlivened the living spaces while enhancing views and the experience of living on a unique coastal pond with the ocean in the distance.
